COMMERCIAL LICENSING

If you take consideration (money, gifts, etc.) for passage on your boat, you are required by federal law to be licensed.  Many states require guide licenses.  There is a list of Coast Guard approved schools at http://www.uscg.mil/STCW/m-pers.htm.
