Welcome to the New York State Boat Operator online boating safety course!
This Internet boating safety course has been approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA) and recognized by the United States Coast Guard. This Internet boating safety course has been reviewed by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, and found to contain NYS specific information as required by NASBLA.
NOTICE
– this online
boating safety course DOES NOT meet New York
State’s legal requirements
to operate a Personal
Watercraft (PWC- jet ski, wave runner, etc.), or
for
persons under 18
years of age.
NYS allows only classroom
training to meet legal operator education requirements for
PWC and
operators under 18 years of age. However, all other
NYS boaters may take this boating
safety course and
are encouraged to learn about safer, legal boating.

Getting
Started: Read the study material, paying
close attention to
those topics that will keep you safe on the water and prevent you from
getting
a ticket! Make sure to take the end of chapter quizzes, and when you’re
ready,
take the 60-question practice exam. The practice exam is automatically
graded,
so you will be able to track your progress.
Once you’ve read the study material
and mastered the quizzes
and practice exam, enter the "Final Exam" portion of the site. The
Final Exam
is 60 multiple-choice questions (4 possible answers to each question).
When you
successfully pass the final exam, you will be allowed to enter the
payment
section for receiving your proof of completion certificate
