ANCHORS

AnchorIn NYS, every mechanically propelled vessel shall carry an anchor cable of sufficient weight and strength to provide a safe anchorage for such vessel. It is be the duty of the master of such vessel to exercise reasonable care and caution and maritime skill in everything relating to the safe anchorage of his vessel.

TRAILERS

All trailers operated on NYS public highways must be registered, insured, and inspected much the same as passengers cars. You must provide the DMV with the following documents in order to receive a valid registration document for your trailer:

A completed Application for Vehicle Registration (MV-82)
  • Proof of ownership (either a signed Title document for 1973 or newer trailers, or a signed transferable registration for earlier models).
  • Proof of payment of sales tax (may be paid at any DMV issuing office).
  • Proof of trailer inspection
  • Proof of identity
  • A check for the correct fee made out to the “Commissioner of Motor Vehicles”.
Presentation of these items to any DMV issuing office will produce a valid one-test registration for your trailer. If you have questions you may call, in NYC area, 212-645-5550, or elsewhere in the state, 1-800-922-9555.

Trailers with an unladen weight of less than 1000 pounds are exempt from the titling requirements. Builders of homemade trailers can contact their county’s weight and measures office for locations of weighing stations.

REGATTAS

Whenever a regatta or boat race is proposed, the person in charge must file an application at least fifteen (15) days prior to the event.
Nothing requires any permit or permission to hold a regatta or race of rowing shells by any educational institution or amateur rowing organization in navigable waters of the state.
