OPERATING IN THE AQUATIC ENVIRONMENT

Boaters should always operate cautiously when anywhere near aquatic inhabitants such as migratory birds and sea turtles:

  • Stay clear of mothers with young. Nests, dens, and rookeries are especially vulnerable to human disturbance. Never herd, chase, or separate a mother from its young or try to handle the animals.
  • Watch for sea turtles as they are vulnerable to propeller strikes when they come to the surface to breathe.
  • Report injured animals to the nearest marine patrol or rescue recovery agency
  • Don’t Feed Wild Animals!
