SKIING STANDARDS - SKI MIRROR AND OBSERVER

  • There must be an observer, in addition to the operator, onboard the towing vessels while towing skiers, aquaplane or similar device. If there is no observer, there must be a wide-angle rear view mirror.
  • In addition, each person engaged in water skiing or aquaplaning must wear a U. S. Coast Guard approved life jacket(inflatable life jackets are prohibited for skiing/aquaplaning).
  • Water skiing is only permitted one-half hour before sunrise up to one-half hour after sunset.
  • The operator of a vessel towing a skier may not pull the skier close enough to a fixed object or another vessel that there is risk of collision.
  • No one may ski or use another aquaplaning device while impaired by alcohol or other drugs.
