MUFFLERS

All boats must be effectively muffled so as to prevent excessive noise. The use of cut-outs is prohibited.

Always keep engines tuned and mufflers in good and serviceable condition.

In some counties of Florida, a muffler law is in effect that prohibits the operation of any vessel in or upon the waters of Florida in such a manner so that the total noise produced by the watercraft exceeds 90 dBA at a distance of 50 feet or more, whether or not said vessel is in motion. Check local laws to ensure your boat is operating legally.

Airboats must be effectively muffled. Florida requires the exhaust of every internal combustion engine used on any airboat operated on the waters of Florida to be provided with a stock factory muffler, underwater exhaust, or other manufactured device capable of adequately muffling the sound of the exhaust of the engine.
